What to Wear to the Theater: Ballet Pink & Tulle Dress

pink tulle dress

I am partial to tulle and ballet pink. This dress by Elliatt is a spring wardrobe dream for me. This outfit would be a perfect look for an evening out at the ballet or opera.

Speaking of the theater, I’m so lucky to have a wonderful friend from my ballet days who will call me up with last minute plans to go to the ballet! Shannon and I met while we were dancing for Dominic Walsh Dance Theater and Houston Grand Opera here in Houston. Watching a ballet with a fellow dancer is all the more enjoyable because you can really discuss the intricacies and components of the show from sets to choreography.

Before my trip to Florida, Shannon and I caught Houston Ballet’s last showing of “Sylvia” before the run ended. It’s been so long since I’ve gone to see a ballet (a year I think!). I was not familiar with “Sylvia” and went into the show not knowing the storyline. I purposely wanted to see if my old ballet brain could pick up on the story without help from the literature provided, admittedly I had to cheat a few times. “Sylvia” follows three Greek Mythology love stories, and let me tell you, Act III, had me feeling all the emotions ( and it’s not like any of the stories ended in tragedy, they were all quite happy endings).

I wish I could say I teared up a bit. NO, I was fighting huge tears rolling down my face, drying my face with my sleeve and fanning my eyes with the program.

I’m so looking forward to Houston Ballet’s 50th Season because they will be performing some of my favorite ballets I grew up watching; Giselle, Romeo and Juliet and Sleeping Beauty. If you love the ballet or have never experienced it this is a great season to take in true classics.
