For the majority of my life, thus far, I have underestimated the appeal of a longer hemline. Even in ballet when my costume was a romantic tutu and not pancake one I was disappointed. I had the mindset that long skirts were frumpty-dumpty and only shorter hemlines looked good on me, even my uniform kilt, which my mom allowed me to hem from to a “socially acceptable” length (down to the fingertips) needed to be rolled up.
So let’s talk about how gorgeous, chic, long skirts can be. I am particularly a fan of silk skirts this season. They can be worn casually with sneakers or dressed up for the evening at a theater or dinner. Here I paired this silk skirt fro theory with an oversized silk blouse from Cinq a Sept. Both pieces are from Neiman Marcus Galleria Houston. Because of the metallic hue of the skirt, I completed the look with my silver Dior heels and this white bag from Rebecca Minkoff. The studded detailing on the bag and the handwriting print on the blouse adds a much-needed edge to the look.
