Beauty Disclaimer: I have never gotten Botox or filler or any other cosmetic surgeries but I have gotten hyaluronic acid lip filler in 2017 (read about it here).
My choice to stay “natural” is partly based on skepticism that long term effects of injecting yourself with a toxin that freezes the muscles IN YOUR FACE
That being said, here I am, in my thirties, doing the most no-invasive methods, up until I feel injections are the only solution to keep fine lines and saggy skin at bay.
When Amanda, owner of Holistic Healing Acupuncture, told me that acupuncture is a botox alternative I wanted to get in immediately and try it out! Entering my thirties I became concerned with potential 11’s forming, forehead fine lines and overall youthful plumpness in my face, feeling like something beyond creams was needed.
No Tox Botox Acupuncture Treatment:
The first treatment included an introductory evaluation where we talked about my goals and over health as well. I expressed being mainly interested in facial rejuvenation for these treatments although most likely would benefit from all Amanda had to offer! Acupuncture and holistic medicine treats a number of ailments including pain relief, allergies fertility, stress, etc. But we could visit that later.
After the initial conversation, I was ready for treatment. In the private room I lay down on the treatment “bed”. Amanda explains everything she is doing it. She shows me how thin the needles are and the areas on my face she will be applying them. The treatment areas on my face are cleaned with alcohol before each needle is placed.
The acupuncture needles are one-time use and are applied in the skin using a small cylinder. Each “needle” is lightly tapped into the treatment spot and then adjusted by hand
Amanda added a few spots for stress/ anxiety so that I could relax during my first treatment, which lasted 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes the needles are removed and the treatment is concluded by hyaluronic acid serum and jade rolling.
Results:
Results differ for everyone. I always have great results after each treatment. The acupuncture stimulates collagen production under the skin naturally a “fills” up fine lines and wrinkles immediately after the treatment for me and lasts a couple of weeks. Over the five treatments, I have had I am noticing the fine lines diminishing. For long term results, it’s something you need to keep up with regularly. While Botox is a temporary fix/ band-aid, acupuncture is more of a remedy. However, with any natural remedy, the results take longer to achieve and won’t be as drastic as botox.
The best way to gauge your results is by talking to Amanda about what you can achieve using acupuncture. She is very realistic with what the treatments can do for you based on your skin and will give you a great plan of action if you want to go the holistic route.
