My recipe for a cocktail attire that is fashion-forward is a bright color with a chic silhouette metallic pumps and fresh accessories.
When the dress code on an invitation reads “cocktail attire” but you don’t want to pull out your trusty LBD. I’m sharing my guide to cocktail attire for women.
Dress:
Mini or Midi Dresses are the way to go! Floor-length is too formal but while shorter hemlines are within “cocktail party” it doesn’t mean that sparkly NYE mini dress is appropriate. Stay away from revealing necklines and hemlines.
Bag:
Clutch or mini bag. Before I buy my evening bags I like to make sure they will fit my phone, cards, and makeup for touchups.
Shoes:
Heels or kitten heels are the most typical shoe of choice. You can wear an elegant flat like the Manolo Blahnik jeweled flats. My silver Dior heels are the go-to cocktail heels they go with so much in my closet I highly suggest having a metallic shoe in your wardrobe. The silver is such a neutral color.
Nails:
The mani must be clean and elegant. I personally stay away from bright colors unless they are red or pink in the correct season. I even love a clear coat over a clean nail. If you are pressed for time or like me hate sitting in a nail salon, I can’t recommend press-on nails more. I like the Kiss Salon Acrylic in French Nude. You can apply them with glue or a sticker and they last for seven days when applied correctly. These are getting more and more popular and my local Target are always sold out so I’ve been ordering them online here lately.
